Friday Night

High Kotton Band

Festivities kick-off on Friday, October 7 with activities from 6 to 9 p.m. The stores of Market and Main Streets will be open late as an evening of shopping and entertainment gets underway.

The sounds of High Kotton Band, a bluegrass band formed of three remarkable backgrounds of talent will accompany patrons as they stroll down Market Street. Band members Wendy Crowe (vocals) from Clinton, Tim Harbin (vocals/guitar) from Powell and Amanda Thomas (vocals/fiddle/mandolin) from Oak Ridge together make up over 100 years performing around the South.  The three together create an explosion of chemistry, which creates an incredible harmony and blend.

High Kotton’s smooth mixture of traditional bluegrass favorites to originals grab the audience’s attention.  Their outstanding performance at WDVX’s Blue Plate Special was standing room only.  High Kotton played WDVX’s Wild Wing Café Bluegrass night just two weeks after forming and stunned the audience with their overall talent.  They have also played venues all around East Tennessee and were featured performers at this year’s Dollywood BBQ and Bluegrass.  If you like Bluegrass and Country music, High Kotton Band is a group you won’t want to miss on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.

Carriage Rides

Also on Friday evening, River Ridge Farm will feature carriage rides for a nominal fee through Historic Downtown Clinton, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., with narrative history as the carriage wheels turn with the clomping of the Belgian team of horses.  The Wolfenbarger family, owners of River Ridge Farm, has been at home in East Tennessee for over a hundred and fifty years.  In 1980 The Marvin Wolfenbarger family bought 40 acres of a former dairy farm in rural Anderson County.  On this working farm they raise beef cattle, chickens for eggs, and a market garden.  Learning about draft horses and working them has been a big part of their lives since 1997.  The horses are used to work the market garden, rake hay, light logging, gather firewood, feed livestock in winter and for trail rides and wagon rides.  Their Belgian team of horses joining us at the Festival will be Bill and Nell, purchased in 1999.  Carriage rides on Saturday, 9:00 am – 5:00 p.m., will travel the Historic Eagle Bend area.
